The sports sector in Saudi Arabia is undergoing a significant transformation aimed at achieving the aspirations of Vision 2030. These transformations are supported by the new Sports Law project. On March 20, 2023, the Saudi Shura Council announced its approval of the Saudi Sports Law project in accordance with Article 23 of the Shura Council Law, based on the recommendations of the Culture, Sports, and Tourism Committee.

Objectives of the New Sports Law Project

This project aims to promote sports of all kinds and increase the number of participants while regulating the sports sector by establishing a clear regulatory framework for sports bodies and organizations and their licensing. The law also seeks to encourage local and international investment in the sports sector and improve governance to achieve a sustainable and thriving sports environment.

How is Sports Currently Managed in Saudi Arabia?

In this regard, the Ministry of Sports (MOS) and the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC) are the two main regulatory bodies in Saudi Arabia, working in coordination to enhance governance, expand participation, and improve the overall sports environment.
